Kingdom of the Sun

The Chamber of Secrets

The party entered the tomb to find a long and dark corrider leading deep underground. Finally, light revealed itself and the party was confronted with a large wooden door with ancient inscriptions in Sylvan in fron of a iron grated floor that appeared to be above a deep chasm. The doors knob appeared to almost have a face.

After successfully solving the hysterical door by making him laugh. The group finds themselves in a cozy homeroom. Rhonis uses detect magic to discover a secret chamber used by his former master. In his confusion and search for answers, he finds a journal describing why Arator created the house of whispers and its necessity for “the coming war”. He also finds Artator’s magical bag of holding.

The group soon discovers the halls of whispers and confronts some troggs and bards learning more of the colleges secrets. They find an old dormitory infested with spiders as Malehkos performed some exceptional reconnaissance .

Going deeper into the college of whispers, Althea trips and falls down a flight of stairs and stumbles into some type of laboratory dragging her party members with her as they were attached wit ha rope. There they faced off with tibult and his troggs as well as a mind devorer like the one they faced in the Brightrock Mines.

Earlier, Torin was led down into the deepest part of the college of whispers, The Chamber of Secrets. There he met Virulenth, Lord of Whispers. To prove his loyalty he slayed one of the other potential recruits in cold blood. After learning his trust, Virulenth confided in his plots to take over the college.

After spelunking deeper into the college and tip toeing around a trolls treasure. The party was able to find there way closer to the chamber of secrets. At the entrance, they encountered VIrulenth’s poorly designed security system, a giant chess game and their opponent standing before them, was Torin.

Thanks to cloud’s keen chess skills, virulenth’s home security system was easily thwarted and nothing stood in the party’s way before entering the chamber and final lair.

After a harrowing and grueling multi phase boss encounter, Virulenth was defeated and left his magical trinkets behind. While victory was had, there was still a sense of mystery in the air. What was Virulenth plotting with the vials. And he kept mentioning his master, “Thelros” and how his daughter must succeed.

The House of Whispers

Our heroes began their day assigned to their specific houses and attempted to gather clues to the nature of the college of whispers.

While in House Valor, Althea met a young Paladin named Rhonis who seemed to also be at the college for reasons other than bardic higher education. Tibult bullied another student while Liam seemed busy filling in for Merigos who seems to have caught a cold.

At House Glamour, cloud was led by the cold and indifferent housmaster Helia to their dorms. As they walked she noticed a large greenhouse like building and a strange shadow moving within it. This piqued her curiosity and later that evening attempted to investigate, as she entered the indoor garden, she was attacked by a large shrambling mound! As she rushed to the exit and slammed the door behind her, she was confronted by Helia waiting for her. Helia escorted her back to the dorms where she was shown Helia’s mirror of truth, as Helia gazed intently into her eyes, cloud witnessed a vision in the mirror; it was Torin walking deeper and deeper undergound with a shadowy figure, then finally spiders. Helia recoiled the mirror and muttered, “very interesting”, before whisping away.

At house herald, Malehkos was keen t oexplore the famed Natural history exhibit, there he met an elderly docent and saw the wonderus displays of some sort of dragon skeletons hes never seen before, large two legged ones with no wings and seemingly small arms; others with large spikes protruding from its back. He left finding the exhibit underwhelming and walked outside to regroup at the library.

Torin meanwhile whilst also resting at house Heraldry received a secret note telling him to meet at the whispering wood at midnight. Before then however he played along with the groups investigation.

Meeting at the library, Rhonis and Althea decided to investigate the the upper floors for clues and learned more about a Dark elf who attempted to create a 5th house in bardem. The house of whispers. Torin sneaked off despite Cloud’s pleas and Rhonis also decided to leave for personal reasons.

Torin met with Tibult and was then led to secret entrance of the college of whispers, but were confronted by a familiar paladin.

Rhonis laid at the foot of Arator’s Rest attempting to make peace with his fallen mentor when he noticed the ground had shifted slightly below the tomb when he was confronted by Torin and then begrudgingly left to return to the dorms. Malehkos watched as the paladin left and then saw Torin and tibult enter the tomb after saying some type of spell or password to enter.

The remaining party members regrouped and deduced that this was the secret entrance to the college of whispers and they sought of more clues as Torin could be in trouble. Malehkos and Dorian were able to find the Song of whispers in a secret compartment while searching Aedric Longfoot’s office and returned with haste to the party. Dorian sand “careless whisper” with impeccable skill and the entrance revealed itself. Dorian decided to stay behind as the party and their new paladin companion entered into the unknown…

The College of Bardem

Our heroes awake in Henhill and disturbed the potentially looming danger, head north on foot to Redcliff.

Along the way the fight an enraged giant snake, but slaying it with ease.

At Redcliff the party meets the light-spoken Pippen who heads the town guard. After hearing of the fall of Henhill, he takes them to the mayor who then tasks them with seeking out and destroying the gnoll encampment. She offers a healing word spell scroll and 500 gold if they can clear the encampment.

Later that night our heroes are drinking away at Goldberry’s brewhouse and are tasked by the bartender to investigate wolves or some animal breaking into his cellars.

The party agrees in exchange for free drinks. Malekos sneaks onto the roof of the cellars to discover an elderly man drinking straight from the wine barrel.

After a brief tense moment of catching Merrigos by surprise, the party realizes he is an ancient copper dragon with a penchant for drinking and who happens to be the dean of the college of valor at Bardem. Serra walks up to greet them all and apologizes for abandoning them at Evanholm, she didnt feel safe once word the of the rebellion broke out and wanted to leave the city as soon as possible so she can return to her father in Karas. She delivers Mallory, a baby copper dragon reluctantly to Merrigos as she trusts him and knows that he is lonely in his old age.

The party calls it a night and stays at the inn.

After realizing that they slept-in the party rushes out the door and quickly buys Torin an instrument before rushing off to Rand at the stables for some horses. On the hilly path to the college they were intercepted by a trogg attack from underneath the ground!

After a quick battle where Torin finished the fight in a spectacular fashion tearing gnolls in half with his arms of hadar the party makes it to the college just in time to be sorted.

After meeting with the ancient animal god Arelia, each member is sorted:

Althea in House Valor

Cloud in House Glamour.

Malekos in House Heraldry

And Torin in House Whispers.

The River Ivan

Our heroes wake at the yawning portal to the drums of war. Serra’s imperial ships sail south and Evanholm has been called to help blockade Arden with their ships.

Our heroes get some light banking done and Noland seems reluctant to help with identifying the mysterious amulet.

At noon the party heads to the northgate outside the vyrkul citadel, but serra is no where to be found. They seek help from Terra Einhardt who has been left in charge of Evanholm’s military in Aeron’s absence. She is instructing a group of deathstalkers – rangers who worship a death cult rather than nature, and complaining of a missing unit.

After failing to intimidate Terra, the party gives up trying to get information and instead learns of the path to Evanholm from a basic guard. They barter with Podrick at the docks and sail up river.

On the journey they share some details of their past together and learn more of their backstories. About halfway they encounter what looks to be the remains of a battle. They find Serra’s bodygaurd lying dead in the water and a sole surviving deathstalker badly burned. He negotiates his way out of the party and leaves on foot into the forest, but not before having his glass vial with a skull marking pickpocketed by Althea.

The party was generally not very good at negotiating today.

Later they encounter the town of Henhill, the supposed end of their river voyage completely desolate and empty. After fighting two carrion feeder gnolls the party investigates the scene and althea discovers a pair of human foot tracks escaping into the forest.

At the inn the find some potions and boots of elvenkind.

Edwin's Business Venture

The party returns to Evanholm after having defeated S’goth. They encounter some issues receiving their reward as they hadnt thought about proving that they completed their quests.

They make their way over to the alchemists guild and Noland gives them a quest to learn m ore about Edwin’s use of pirates for business endeavors. After depositing some gold , they make their way over to the Acolytes temple to attune their items. Juliana is unable to recognize the amulet, but suggests Noland or Markel might be able to.

The group makes their way to inform Dorian of the bad news and Dorian doesn’t take well to the interrogation. Dorian suggest that we need to learn more about what Aedric Longfoot was into and that they should enter the college under the guise of students to look for the college of whispers.

Edwin invites the group over for a dinner party with a rumors of a royal guest. Serra Volsong, of the Kingdom of the Sun. Torin, makes a spectacular diversion allowing the rest of the party to sneak around and look for clues. Porter, Edwin’s Abjurer bodyguard eventually catches Althea in the act, but she manages to escape in an extremely acrobatic fashion. Meanwhile, Malehkos persuades Serra to travel together as they are both headed to Bardem. She briefly mentioned she is on a mission to escort Mallary to a Merrigos. They are to meet at the Vyrkul Citedel at mid-day tomorrow…

Our heroes began their day waking up in the yawning portal. After some light shopping and receiving a quest to find out what happened to the Brightrock Mines from Aznar, the group is suddenly surrounded by armed guards and escorted to Saven's Keep by Aeron Sigurd to face trial for the destruction of Saltmar.

The heroes are introduced to the their Judges as the 7 guild leaders of Evanholm take their seat to determine the truth of what happened to saltmar.

Aeron argues for our heroes and mentions Greenbeard would not give up his sword so lightly. Markel suggests it would seem odd the heroes entered Evanholm so freely. Marian was not amused with the trial at all. Dorian couldnt even get most of his questions out before getting cut off. Noland was alarmed and showed outrage over the mere mention of pirates. Edwin was the chief prosecuter and even hired a half-elf to stand as witness against the group. Juliana pointed out that Tair couldn't have been a witness as she saw him the last week hustling in the streets.

The guildmasters take a vote and 6-1 vote in favor of our heroes innocence. Freed of their ordeal, the group celebrates their freedom by hitting the town and getting wasted. Malehkos ends up doing pretty well and Cloud on the Mountain top accidently punches a nobleman in the face and spends the night in jail.

The following morning the group sets out on a quest with a desire to loot and smash.

They find Brightrock hills and the mine easily with the help of Althea's navigation skills. The mine is abondoned and a trap was laid at the door. Near the entrance, the group encounters some marauding gnolls. Further into the mines our heroes do battle with giant spiders and traverse poisonous mushrooms and fall into the pit of a gelatinous cube! After a heroic battle and the cube is defeated and Magic Armor was recovered.

Further into the mines our group discovers a deep cavern and across a narrow wooden bridge are the miners they were sent to investigate however they mindless and unresponsive.

Torin was able to death grip most of them off of the ledge and our heroes decided to take a rest before traversing the bridge.

The Road to Evanholm
Ep 2

Our heroes found themselves drifting ashore after their climactic battle with captain Greenbeard onboard the Sea Ghost. What they didn't expect was the town of Saltmar was seemingly abandoned and partially set ablaze.

They investigated the remains of the town finding dead bodies and burnt homes as they went. Ultimately their suspicion took root in the Green Sleep and the shady bar owner whose name they never bothered to learn. After investigating the house and finding a magical robe, Torin smashed his way to Charles' secret coffin chamber and discovered that he is in fact a vampire.

After meeting Adrian Glade upstairs our heroes fought and frankly whooped some vampire ass in the bar downstairs against Charles as he attempted to ambush and infect them. After being lit on fire, Charles turned into mist form and escaped.

Adrian suggested to the group they make their escape incase Charles returned. His daughter (Ariana) owns a shop in Evanholm and he can lead the party on the Road. On their travels, Cloud finds Rhonis alone pondering his newfound paladin powers, Adrien tells the about the political machinations of Evanholm and its fabled 7 guilds:

The Acolytes:

Magic Adepts seeking to learn the arcane

The Historians:

Lorekeepers and treasure hunters

The Vyrkul

Mercs for hire serving as the unofficial militia

The Shipwrights:

Merchants and Sailors in the Navy of Evanholm

The Alchemists:

Bankers and Guild Artisans who wish to profit above all else

The Etherian Circle:

Those who respect nature and wish to worship the spirit of the forest.

And The College of Bardem

Those who love butter beer and the Bards of the 4 noble houses.

After two days of travel, they get to a forest that has been recently cut down for timber. After exploring the now devastated patch of forest they encounter and enraged Owlbear. After a narrow victory, and hearing the legend of Bjorn, the fallen bear god from the Nightvale. The group makes its way into the bustling city of Evanholm.

The city is alive with trade and smells of fish and sea salt. The large stone towers and ruins of old city rise amidst the wooden shanties of the new one. great hills pepper the north bank and the bay is filled with ships of war and trade.

The group avoids a would be gang conflict from some shady looking half-elves due to the kind offer of Althea and makes their way to the Yawning Portal for some R&R. There they receive two quests the wire but jolly barkeep Durnham: one to investigate the final resting place of Bjorn with a map acquired from a former patron, and two, to investigate a mysterious coin given to him by a strange halfling patron not too long ago, mentioned something about the Brightstar Mines as his occupation.

The Secrets of Saltmar

Our heroes entered Salatmar for various reasons, but after speaking with the local townsfolk and Mayor, they departed for the Chilton Manor on a quest to rid it of its evil.

After discovering an assassin that was sent to kill them, the group made their way down to the cellar of the house.

Here they found that instead of a "haunted" mansion, a group of pirates was running a smuggling operation using their traps and ship to create the illusion of a haunted mansion so that no one would investigate. Even more disturbing was what they were smuggling. Our heroes discovered two other adventures alive in coffins being prepared for shipment. Aeron, a human paladin claiming to be from Evanholm and Petrie, a wood elf rogue of mysterious origins.

Together the group cleared the cellar of pirates and explored a vast connection of caves built into the sea cliff underneath the manor. They then found the harbor of the smugglers and planned a stealth operation to row to the pirate ship off shore and sneak aboard. After an unsuccessful attempt to convince the crew they were also pirates. The group snuck on board and battled Captain Greenbeard and his crew. Malekos and Althea managed to light the ship on fire and many pirates died in the climatic battle. After being hit with a flaming arrow, Greenbeard through himself overboard seemingly to his death.

Our heroes looted what they could before the ship fully set ablaze. Treasure in hand they row towards the shores of saltmar not knowing what lies ahead. Who had sent he assassin and where was the "cargo" Greenbeard headed for?
